Sparrowhawk
A small bird of prey (raptor) with broad wings with blunt wing tips and a long tail. Small hooked bill suitable for eating meat.
Probably the most common bird of prey in Ireland. Widespread in woodland, farmland with woods, larger parks and gardens. Sparrowhawks hunt by surprise-attack - deftly gliding over hedgerows and between trees to almost appear out of nowhere, snatch their prey, and often leave again in a hurry.
How I captured these images
In most cases I will have my GoPro with me and document how I capture my images, white capturing footage of the subject.
