Cuckoo

Cuckoos, or Cuach as gaelige, are a summer migrant to Ireland. Adult birds are resident here from April to early July, having spent the winter on the African continent. Widespread in Ireland, favouring open areas which hold their main Irish host species – Meadow Pipit.

They are a unique bird in Ireland as famously they lay their eggs in other birds’ nests and have no involvement in raising their young.

How I captured these images

In most cases I will have my GoPro with me and document how I capture my images, white capturing footage of the subject.
