Spotted Flycatcher
A widespread summer visitor from May to September to Ireland but winter in southern Africa.
Insects caught in flight. Usually perches on an exposed branch in a woodland clearing, flying out to catch any passing insects.
The spotted flycatcher is a medium-sized songbird of open woodland, parks and gardens. It has a relatively long tail, which it flicks while it sits patiently on a perch waiting for a chance to fly out and catch its insect-prey mid-air.
How I captured these images
In most cases I will have my GoPro with me and document how I capture my images, white capturing footage of the subject.
